Dearest Darling Little Boy of Mine,
I cooked you in my belly for 9 months.
I labored for a long and ardous 23 1/2 hours.
I pushed for 2 1/2 hours to get you here.
But none of that prepared me for what it would be like to be your mother.
To be ‘MAMA!’.
The kisser of your boo-boos, the chest you fall asleep on while I rock you, the guinea pig you jab your new needle nose pliers in to because it sounded fun, the mommy you cuddle with (sometimes) while watching TV, the gatherer of ‘bankie’ ‘goggy’ and ‘cup cup’ because Heaven knows Cayden can’t go to sleep without those three things, the changer of your diapers, some of which have been extremely horrific- truly, you’re bowels never cease to amaze me child.
To be your Mama has been the most amazing blessing of my life. Believe me, you taught me more in the seconds after your birth than I can ever teach you.
You taught me what it meant to truly love another; unwavering, relentless, tiring but passionate love.
You were born and my life suddenly had purpose and meaning.
You gave me and your father a new passion for life.
You make us proud, little boy.
Your zest for life and your passion for knowledge leave us beaming with pride.
Dream big, little boy. You are going to do great, amazing, wonderful and did I mention amazing things in your life.
You already have, if you think about it.. but you’re going to do even bigger great, amazing and wonderful things.
Two years ago you changed my life.
Today, you are my life.
I love you, you little stinky tooty fry.
Love,
Yo Mama.
