The Woman Behind The Dirty Diapers

by Billie on October 18, 2010

Behind the dirty diapers, I am a 27 year old stay at home mother and wife. I am also a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. I attend college part time, slowly but surely working towards my business degree.

  • My husband Chad, whom I affectionately refer to as ‘the computer geek’, is the peanut butter to my jelly.  I married my best friend.  I could not imagine a more perfect man for me.  I am a lot to handle at times and he handles all of me (the good, bad and ugly) with such ease.  Don’t get me wrong, we have our disputes, but that man knows exactly how to make me laugh, even when I absolutely do not want to.  He makes my heart smile and I thank God for him every day.
  • I have a sister who is pretty much amazing.  Krista and I did not live together as children and I think that has a lot to do with how strong our relationship is today.  We have never had the sibling rivalry issues like most brothers and/or sisters.  She is an amazing woman and mother to two beautiful children and is an inspiration to me daily.
  • I have been blessed with the best friend a girl could ask for.  Abby, you are amazing.  I realize that the term ‘best friend’ is over used and cliche but I believe it to be the only way to describe our friendship.  We know each other so well that on several occasions we have been able to read each other minds to a freakish point of accuracy.  She is also a mother and I look to her for inspiration daily as she works full time and raises three children that are all two years apart.  How she has managed to not go grey yet is beyond me.
  • I recently acquired (AKA I drove my husband crazy until he bought me) my first dSLR camera, a Canon Rebel XS, and am absolutely loving it!  If you see me away from the computer, I more than likely have it around my neck.  While currently my only willing model participant is my son, I have high aspirations of eventually branching out to photograph as a part time profession.  I’ll be posting some of my material from time to time and I look forward to hearing your thoughts about my work!
  • I am a tad bit sarcastic at times.
  • I love slap-stick humor and will laugh at just about anything that I find funny, even in the most inappropriate of times.  I am notorious for laughing hysterically when my husband hurts himself.  It drives him crazy but I cannot help it.
  • I love pasta salad.  Anyway you can make it, I will eat it.  I welcome with open, albeit jiggly from immense consumption of pasta salad, arms any new pasta salad recipes you may have!
  • I am a huge daddy’s girl.  Always have been, always will be.
  • I suffer from severe endometriosis and interstitial cystitis.  I will eventually be creating a page on here to promote knowledge and awareness of these two diseases.
  • I have a strong aversion to the consistency of tomatoes.  The only time I’ve ever eaten and enjoyed tomatoes was while I was pregnant and they were smothered in cottage cheese.   I do, however, love ketchup.  I am fully aware of how ridiculous that sounds.
  • I am a firm believer in karma.  What goes around comes around.  What you put into this world, you get back.  So on and so forth.  I try my hardest to be a good person and to do good for others, each and every day.
  • I believe in random acts of kindness.  Try opening a door for someone, or grabbing that box off of the shelf for the vertically challenged person, pop a quarter in the parking meter so some unfortunate soul does not get a parking ticket; just try doing something nice for somebody today.  It could change your outlook on the day and most likely will plant an irreversible smile on your face.
  • When my two year old misses his naps he becomes an insufferable tyrant, holding my entire house hostage with his sippy cup.  Help me.
  • I use to miss rocking said two year old to sleep but now I get my baby fix with my newborn, Gavin.  All is well in the world again.
  • Until two years from now when Gavin no longer allows me to rock him to sleep.  Then my husband better thank his lucky stars for my Paraguard.. or I’d be getting another baby fix ;)
  • If laughter is contagious, mine is an epidemic.  I laugh very loud and without regard to what others may think.  When I really get going, I snort like a pig.  he he.. snort snort.
  • I have a sick obsession with chocolate.  It’s bad.
  • I use to work at a podiatrist’s office and while employed there, became an expert at trimming toenails, callouses and corns.
  • Due to said employment, I have an extremely well controlled stomach and high toleration for all things nauseating.

All you really need to know about me though is that I am a mother.   I have learned many things throughout my time as a mother and continue to learn new things every day.  I enjoy sharing my stories with you here. My hope is that by sharing my smiles and tears with you, I can make your day a little happier- I love hearing that my stories have given my readers a laugh, chuckle or even an all out guffaw.

Yes, a guffaw.  Look it up.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you for letting me share my story with you.

I love yah for it.

Ok I just have to tell you that I LOVE tomatoes dearly, yum, can eat them raw but HATE ketchup. So we are just opposite on that one. It is silly to like one and not the other, and don’t know why kethcup makes me want to upchuck, but there you go!
